Streaks and badges that come straight from attendance

Attendance now earns something. Every student has a streak — the number of days in a row they were marked present — plus a best-ever streak, and both are worked out on the server the moment you mark, correct or delete a mark. Reach 7 days for Spark Starter, 15 for Half-Moon Hero, 30 for Monthly Monarch; the card shows the highest one reached, and badges are kept for good, so fixing an old register never takes one back. Parents see their child's streak and badges on the Attendance page, and teachers and admins see them under the batch header — only for the students in the batch that is open, never the whole institute. On a phone and on a desktop the cards fold behind a Streaks & badges header that keeps the student count visible, so a long batch stays short until you open it. There is nothing to switch on and nothing to maintain: the day a student is marked present, their streak moves.

Remind parents on WhatsApp

Open Fees, find the student, and the Remind button under their name opens WhatsApp with the message already written — their name, the amount and the period filled in. It runs through your own WhatsApp, so there is no API key to set up, no per-message charge, and no third party reading your parents' numbers. Nothing is sent until you tap Send, and Copy puts the same wording on your clipboard if you would rather send it yourself. A student with no saved number says so instead of failing quietly, and once you have reminded someone today the list marks them Reminded so you do not send twice.

Bulk import students from Excel or CSV

Adding a batch one student at a time is fine for five and painful for fifty. The Students page now has an importer: paste rows, or upload a CSV, TSV, .xlsx or .xlsm file (up to 200 students, 2 MB). You get an editable preview with per-row and bulk consent, duplicate detection by name and phone, class and fee validation, and one Import button that writes the students, their batches and the current-period dues in one pass. Legacy .xls files get a clear "Save As .xlsx" message. A template is one click away.

Notifications that stop asking

PingClass no longer asks for notification permission the moment a page loads. Switch push on from Settings when you're ready. If your browser has already blocked notifications — or you dismissed the prompt by accident — we now say so plainly, stop pretending the save worked, and walk you through the exact recovery steps for your browser.

See who sent an announcement

Every announcement now carries a sender badge — Admin or Teacher — so parents and staff know who posted it. We also fixed the audience filters on the admin side (the Teachers and Parents filters matched nothing) and made sure teachers can always see the announcements they posted themselves.

Pay once a year, get two months free

Annual billing is live: Basic at ₹2,499/year and Pro at ₹5,999/year — two months free compared with paying monthly. One payment, one receipt, and a clear renewal date on your plan card. Switch between monthly and annual from Billing whenever you like.

The guided tour can be replayed

Skipped the tour on day one? Settings now has a Guided tour button on the admin, teacher and parent dashboards, so you can replay it any time. Empty pages also point you to the right next step now — create a batch, then add students, then take attendance — instead of leaving you on a blank screen.

Login codes that tell the truth

Your one-time code is now valid for 60 minutes, matching how long the server actually honours it. The screen shows a live countdown, you can resend after 60 seconds, and the rate-limit message explains itself instead of just saying "try again".

Batches and announcements that failed to save

On some plans, saving a new batch or announcement could fail with a generic error. The plan-limit check was reading a column that only exists on one table, so the save crashed before the limit could apply. Fixed on the server: plan limits still apply, but they no longer fail silently in the wrong place.

A gentle nudge for an unfinished payment

If a parent opens checkout and closes it without paying, PingClass waits 15 minutes, then sends one reminder in the app and one push notification. One nudge — not a daily nag — and never a second bell entry for the same payment.

September 20265 updates

Invites that land in the inbox

Inviting a parent or teacher used to mean copying a link and sending it yourself. Now the invitation is emailed for you as well — same link, same expiry — so there's nothing to paste and fewer "can you resend that?" messages.

Overdue reminders that know when to stop

Reminders are now tracked per payment and per channel, and stop after three attempts. Before this, a fee that stayed unpaid could re-notify the same parent every single day. The reminder should feel like a nudge, not a loop.

Parent alerts for announcements and absences

Parents can be alerted — in the app and by push — when you post a new announcement or when their child is marked absent, including a note when absences run into consecutive days. Every alert has an opt-out switch, so families who prefer a quieter inbox can have one.

Fee receipts parents can download

Mark a fee as paid and a numbered receipt is issued automatically. Parents can download it as a PDF from their own dashboard at any time — for tax records, school fee recalls, or simply to end a disagreement about what was paid and when.

Fee dues that generate themselves

Monthly, quarterly and yearly dues are created automatically by a daily job, so the Fees page always shows the current period instead of last month's leftovers. Switch months on the Fees page to see exactly what was billed, what was collected, and what is still pending.
